Radio Maria Chief Don Livio Fangaza and a "Pleasant Surprise"

(Rome) Don Livio Fanzaga, program director of Radio Maria Italy was recently noticed for purges against critics of Pope Francis, but "there are also pleasant surprises," says the traditional website Messa in Latino.
In the World Family of Radio Maria, Don Livio occupies a central position. He is spiritual director and program director of Radio Maria Italy, the oldest among the many Radio Maria stations, of which there are four in the German-speaking world. And he is at the same time director of the World Family.

Purge against critics of Pope Francis

The purges began in October 2013. Those purged were employees who had been critical of gestures, decisions and statements by Pope Francis, including long-term employees who had helped to shape the profile of the broadcaster. Here no one had voiced his criticism on Radio Maria but in other media. However, Don Livio wasn't concerned with such details.  "You don't criticize the Pope," reads the verdict of the program director.

Purge  1

The first employees who were been shown the door were the congenial author duo Mario Palmaro and Alessandro Gnocchi. Both had worked ten years at the broadcaster and each was responsible for his own show. On October 10, 2013, the legal philosopher Palmaro and journalist  Gnocchi published in the daily newspaper Il Foglio, a lively but justified criticism of Pope Francis, under the title "Christ is not an option among many, and certainly not for his representative on earth".
Scarcely had Don Livio heard about it, than he gives  his two employees a "polite phone call". He did not discuss the content of the call.  "Father Livio is of the opinion that you can not be a presenter at Radio Maria and  criticize the Pope," said the dismissed employees.  Even when the Pope personally made a phone call to the the already seriously ill Palmaro  and expressed understanding for the criticism, nothing changed.

Purge 2

On February 13, 2014, Radio Maria separated itself from  the famous historian Roberto de Mattei. On the eve that de Mattei had published  the essay "The End of Civilization - Who loves the Church, Defends Her. De Mattei had been designated since 2010 his own show at Radio Maria. The correspondence between the dismissal Don Livio Fanzaga and Professor de Mattei was of the latter published.

Purge 3

On November 24, 2014 Gianpaolo Barra, the chief editor of the Catholic monthly magazine was Il Timone  was removed from the broadcaster. He had expressed no criticism of Pope Francis. His "guilt" consisted in refusing to disinvite one  the Pope's critics f  Antonio Socci from Timone Festival, an event that is unrelated to Radio Maria. Antonio Socci had recently published his book "Non è Francesco" (This is Not Francis). The rector of the Academy of Television Journalism in Perugia doubts the legality of the election of Pope Francis. Because Barra had hesitated in the eyes of Don Livio to purge, he himself was even purged.

"... Or you jump out of the window"

On March 13, 2014 on the first anniversary of the election of Pope Francis and less than 24 hours after the funeral much beloved and much too early departed Mario Palmaro, Don Livio commented  on his purges on Radio Maria Italy. His exact words were: "Lately, I had to make a nice clean sweep among those responsible for the programs of Radio Maria ... Some I had to bring down from the Chair and put on a simple stool ... Because it must be clear: either one eats this soup [Pope Francis ] or you jump out the window ... "

A "Pleasant Surprise"

But there are also "pleasant surprises" as Messa in Latino remarked. Such a "pleasant surprise" is the latest book Don Livio Fanzaga published,  "La vita devota" (The religious life, ed. Sugarco, Milan 2015). On page 13  Don Livio writes:
"In practical terms the liturgical reform had unexpected consequences by way of unpleasant deviations and abuses of a general permission to hand Communion, through lack of care in the storage of the consecrated Hosts, up to serious theological errors expressed by those who cast doubt on the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament."
In the World Family of Radio Maria  there are currently 75 stations  connected together on all five continents, including four TV channels in German: Radio Horeb Radio Maria Austria, Radio Maria Südtirol and Radio Maria German-speaking Switzerland. The individual channels are independent in organization and program design.

Year of Mercy: The Adverse Reaction from the Italians

The Italians did not have to wait long for the reactions that have been described by Professor Patrizia Fermani as a "Putsch of Mercy".

Fermani is a founding member of Giuristi per la Vita (lawyers for life) and founder of the Comitato Nel Nome dell'Infanzia (Committee On behalf of the childhood). The Italian journalist Antonio Margheriti Mastino wrote on his website papalepapale: " Some time ago, a well-known, hypochondriacal Cardinal, perhaps under a permanent state of fear of suffering caused by the psychosis, had said in private that the IOR [Vatican bank]  was in  very poor condition and that it was only a matter of months until it breaks down. Was that exaggeration? Possibly. However, this is not the first time that similar financial situations have occurred and the Holy See has often reacted to it with an extraordinary anniversary. By this he meant that such a generous offer had been made, that could  avoid through repentance and conversion,  to reduce the budget deficit.  Nevertheless, Antonio Mastino continued, "it is a fact that the last remoarseful Jubilee did not earn   much and they had bet all on extensive media coverage. To those, like me,  who live in Rome and experience it live, it seemed like a kind of giant fairground, where all sense of boundaries had gone and in the general penance was the last thing on the minds of the participants which took place in all of  2000. This was so bad that Cardinal Ratzinger raised his eyes to heaven glancing at this psychedelic program of the jubilee  and resignedly said, once every 25 years, okay ... but no more ' ."
On March 15, the Italian journalist Antonio Socci asked on his site antoniosocci: "Will the Holy Year, which has just been announced be centered, as the previous, on  Jesus Christ or will it be centered  on Pope Bergoglio? ... The jubilee years have always been related  since the First in 1300 on dates that had to do with the birth and death of Jesus Christ; including the (very rare) Extraordinary anniversaries. The anniversary year in 2016 is the first anniversary in the history of the Church that is not centered around a historical event of Jesus Christ during his earthly life. Because they needed a reason to convene it in 2016, Bergoglio decided that it should take place on the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. But what's this? For an anniversary?  There was never an anniversary year for a council. Moreover, the Second Vatican Council ended in 1965, not in 1966 and therefore they will not celebrate the 50th, but the 51st anniversary of the conclusion of the 21st Council of the Church.
Therefore, this is an excuse, which is more than any other ideological and self-referential, because the anniversary year refers to a church event, rather than on Christ. (When we look at similar events in the history of the church, you could organize a Holy Year every year.)
"The first anniversary in Church history that is not centered on a Christ-event, will have Pope Bergoglio as undisputed protagonist of the media, a pope, by the way, who does not greet the faithful with the traditional greeting "Praised be Jesus Christ," but rather with "Good Day" and "Good evening"  welcomed, so that the media him as an" affable welcome Pope ".
"So this will be a year of Bergoglio triumphalism. The issue of mercy, which elected the Pope, is going in this direction.

On March 17, Patrizia Fermani on the website Riscossa Cristiana: "This is the point where the dexterity comes into play. Here we have the tremendous idea, to give a revolutionary political program  a sacramental form. All you have to do is to give it the form of a solemn anniversary. This will disguise the reversal of the mission of the Church under a ballast of religious pathos, even for those who are stunned, dull or confused. Bergoglio's mercy - general amnesty with a retroactive blotter for the sins - has a theological and religious form that is able to defeat any resistance. In primitive religions, mystical increase was also the sublimation of what is irrational and carnal. Bergoglio's anniversary aims to be the sublimation of the new rites of modernity which are the rites of the ecumenical, atheist and popular New Church of the third millennium, and by his impetus, he will bring forth its final consecration."
As Cardinal Walter Kasper when asked by the news agency I.Media on April 9th, 2015 answered, he recalled that Francis aligns with this topic II. Vatican Council, referring to the inaugural speech of John XXIII. to the Council: "Today,  the Bride of Christ [i.e., the Church] prefers to use the remedy of mercy rather than the arms of severity."  In the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, he adds, Francis noted the obligation for a pastoral conversion, "The church must be a home that is open to all ," he explained. "The Church is a sacrament of salvation and the sign and instrument of God's mercy ."  However, by the "enlargement of a central main theme of the Bible and the spiritual tradition of the Church in this way ", the Pope has made ​​mercy to a key theme of his pontificate, said the President Emeritus of the Council for Promoting Christian Unity, in his opinion, the Year of Mercy is in fact part of the reform program of Francis.

A Photographic Comparison --- Urbi et Orbi: Easter 2010 and Easter 2015

 (Rome) The Italian journalist Antonio Socci, known for his book "Non è Francesco" (He is not Francis), in which he questions the legality of the papal election, published a comparison of two photographs of the image service of the Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano.
They each show identical perspectives from St. Peter's Square at the blessing Urbi et orbi by Pope Benedict XVI at Easter 2010, and by Pope Francis for Easter 2015. These two years were chosen by Socci because the same weather conditions were present. At both Easter Sunday it was raining heavily in Rome.
One can question the usefulness of such a comparison. More should take care not to try to interpret into it too much.The pictures should speak for themselves.
The comparison may recommend  that  the nexus of attraction because of the "openness"  is stage managed in connection with the ruling Argentine Pope, while during the tenure of Pope Benedict XVI., they moderately campaigned representing the Pope as a "minus", indeed an obstacle to the Church, who is supposed to have deterred believers and those interested because "conservative."

What Happened in the Conclave After the "Fourth" Ballot? Does Pope Francis Want a New Cardinal Majority?

(Rome) The Italian journalist and Rector of the School of Journalism of Perugia, Antonio Socci, took the call of Pope Francis, "tear down all the walls" as an excuse, even to demand tearing down the "wall of silence" around the conclave. Socci is known to have doubted the validity of the election of Pope Francis. It's a daring hypothesis that has met with general rejection because of its insufficient foundation. Irrespective of this, however, Socci's questions  can not be passed over without further ado.
In his book "Non é Francesco" (He is not Francis) he gave a synopsis of the inconsistencies in the pontificate of  the reigning Pope that seems to strike a chord with many insecure Catholics. Two and a half months after its release, Soccis's book has been number one in Italy's Religion / Spirituality  area.
In the circle of his colleagues, they feel that since the publication of his book Socci has gone too far in his main thesis. Yet no one denies that he has mastered his craft as a journalist nor neglected  a flair for details. It is also not surprising that he sees in Austen Ivereighs book "The Great Reformer"  grist for his own mill. The more so, as Ivereigh, unlike Socci, is an avowed admirer of Francis.
Ivereigh, former Press Agent for Cardinal Murphy O'Connor, revealed the existence of a group of cardinals, which he called "Team Bergoglio". This group, which existed in its core of the cardinals Lehmann, Kasper, Danneels and O'Connor should have joined forces to raise a candidate of their choice to the papal throne. The candidate of their choice was the primate of Argentina, Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio. Back in 2005, after the obvious failure of the long-standing "Ante-Pope" Carlo Maria Martini, the voices of the progressive party had focused on another Jesuit, the Argentine Bergoglio, in the College of Cardinals. This conspiracy got cold feet in its duel against Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger and retired.  For this reason,  said Ivereigh,  team Bergoglio, having a commitment from Bergoglio  before the conclave of 2013, would not back down this time. The "team"  then successfully organized the campaign to Ivereigh's delight.
The revelation caused such a stir that Cardinal O'Connor  published a correction and Vatican spokesman Lombardi at the request of four cardinals named issued a disclaimer.

Between the white smoke and the first appearance, it took twice as much time as with Benedict XVI. Why? What happened? And what about the strange episode when Bergoglio entrusted Scalfari  to  report this together with the first papal interview on October 1, 2013?
Bergoglio explained, 'When I was elected Pope in the conclave, I asked before I accepted the option to retire for a few minutes in the room next to the balcony facing the square. My head was completely empty and a great fear had fallen upon me. So it passed and I calmed myself, I closed my eyes and every thought disappeared, and to refuse the office, which the liturgical procedure allows. I closed my eyes and felt no fear or emotionality any more. '
Then, said Bergoglio further, I jumped like a shot and went into the room where the Cardinals were waiting for me and the table on which lay the acceptance. I signed, and the Cardinal Chamberlain countersigned and then there was the Habemus Papam on the balcony.'
It would be interesting to understand why the white smoke was given at 19.06 clock, about an hour before the Habemus Papam, which was at 20.12 clock. The white smoke could certainly not have been given before Bergoglio accepting the election, since there is only with the signing of the declaration of acceptance a new pope and must take this assumption of free will, and therefore may not take place before  the anticipated white smoke ,
It would also be interesting to understand the whys and the wherefores of this election acceptance after Bergoglio had indeed not accepted according to his  Jesuit vow, not to accept.
The aforementioned Scalfari interview was in fact confirmed by Bergoglio himself, who had published it in an anthology of the Vatican publishing house a month ago. Why are these questions and circumstances  not resolved and put to rest?"

Many New Cardinals in a Short Time

As far as Antonio Socci, he suggests the lifting of secrecy for the Cardinals. This could, said the Italian journalist, answer all the questions raised in his book. He would then like to acknowledge the facts.
But until now  it has not been confirmed by any canon that the election held has been canonically correct. The sequence of the conclave will be described by Elisabetta Pique in the Pope's biography. The Argentine journalist and Pope-friend here   based it directly on her personal  recollections of  the Pope's words himself.  It's a procedure that had been confirmed by an unnamed  cardinal to the Corriere della Sera.
If the conclave had been concluded, like he, Socci, describes it in his book, then the election would be invalid and thus there would be no white-robed incumbent on the Chair of Peter and all official acts since then would be null and void.
"The problem is now that Pope Bergoglio has announced the creation of new cardinals for the upcoming February 15 and may add up to 19 cardinals to be created in February 2014. Why so many appointments in such a short time? To shift the relationships in the College of Cardinals? There is a certain restlessness in the ecclesiastical world, because it is suspected that today progressives in the Curia will push for a future conclave with an axis shifted toward a more modernist leftist.
Apart from the fact that the Pope is 78 years old, we are constantly hearing about a possible resignation. Before that happens, maybe someone wants a progressive revolution in the College of Cardinals. Thus, there can be no opposite pendulum swing  by a startled Cardinal majority.
The conclave of 2013 had by no means a "progressive" majority. Bergoglio was only chosen because cardinals served up all kinds of stories to get their votes. From the transitional pope, to a pope of  necessity,   a pope in the southern hemisphere, but always with the assurance that the Argentine would stand in   continuity with Benedict XVI. and John Paul II. It was not  a coincidence that Bergoglio was found again at the recent Synod of Bishops in the minority. The result is the work of personal conversion. Thus, if the College of Cardinals were turned upside down with a view to a future conclave?" Thus is the final question of Antonio Socci in his essay, on 21 December, and thus one day before the little friendly papal Christmas message to the Curia staff in the daily newspaper Libero had been published.

The Scalfari Magisterium of Pope Francis -- Vatican Publishing House to Release Pope Interview Book

(Rome) The confusion at the highest levels will continue. This is in the truest sense of the word, because in the Vatican of Pope Bergoglio, there is confusion and  more comes every day. After the strange invitation of the Leoncavallo to the Vatican (representatives of the extreme left-center "Leoncavallo", which has been the proverbial  "center" of left-wing violence in Italy, were received on 28 October by Pope Francis in the Vatican) now the Vatican publishing house Libreria Editrice Vaticana has published it
 "Interviews and conversations with journalists". In book form, all the controversial "recognized interviews of Pope Francis, published by L'Osservatore Romano, the newspaper of the Holy See and other newspapers" are to be issued.

Francis Insists on Interviews as Part of his Magisterium

With the release they are accorded special importance. The emphasis is on "recognized" interviews. The question of authenticity was previously highly controversial. A fortiori, since Eugenio Scalfari, doyen of the left-liberal journalism announced, he had even formulated the papal responses in the two interviews he had with Pope Francis.
The printing was done, however, with the explicit imprimatur of the Pope, says Scalfari. A real denial was never pronounced by the Vatican. Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi danced on eggshells with his comments in connection to the publication of both Scalfari interviews, with which he on one hand, confirmed the content of the controversial Pope's statements, but at the same time attempted a kind of distancing.
Not a few Catholics have denied so far, that the interviews were part of the papal Magisterium. Pope Francis seems to have always seen it differently. Since the Osservatore Romano has reprinted the interviews and even published them on the website of the Holy See as parts of the papal magisterium, but they were again withdrawn and re-released, there can hardly be any doubt, that  Pope Francis according to the collected output of  the Vatican publishing house of the statements, the form, the rapid and controversial doctrinal documents, indeed  indicates their  authenticity as statements of his Magisterium.

The "Worst Evils" of the World: "Youth Unemployment"

The first Scalfari interview with the Pope appeared on October 1, 2013 in the daily newspaper La Repubblica. Among the "worst evils" that "plague the world," the pope did not talk about the loss of faith, the denial of God or the attacks on the non-negotiable values ​​and natural law. No, as the "worst evil" that afflicts the world, Pope Bergoglio called "youth unemployment" and the "loneliness of the elderly".
This astonished the atheist and church opponent  himself in old Masonic tradition,  Eugenio Scalfari, who reminded the Pope that youth unemployment is a "political and economic problem"  that  is rather the concern of "States, governments, political parties and the trade unions concerned."  Shouldn't the Pope take care of God?
But Bergoglio reiterated his statement and reiterated that it is "the most urgent and most dramatic problem" for the Church.

"Everyone has their own view of good and evil" - Diametrically contrary to the teaching of the Church, yet silence

The shattering statement of the interview is far more serious. Pope Francis said aloud Scalfari: "Each of us has its own view of the good and of evil. We need to encourage others to move towards what he thinks is best. "
Again Scalfari remained almost speechless in the face of such statements from the mouth of a pope: "The conscience is autonomous,  you have said, everyone must obey his own conscience. I think these are the most courageous utterances that have been made by a pope."
Although Scalfari expressly pointed out to him  the meaning of this statement, Pope Bergoglio insisted   in this case as well: "And here I repeat it. Everyone has their own idea of ​​good and evil and must choose to follow the good and to fight evil, as he perceives it. That would be enough to improve the world."
Officially the Church was silent about the Pope's words and did, and does, as if someone had simply not heard. Behind closed doors, there were no lack of negative remarks, also from highest church officials by pointing out that the papal assertion stands in diametrical opposition to the entire Church doctrine and is also downright dangerous, because with such a statement, it would even justify the heinous crimes even Stalin and Hitler.

Critique of liberalism, but not of Marxism

But not enough. Another statement caused discomfort. The Pope spoke a harsh condemnation of "unbridled liberalism", but did not say a word against the Marxist left or liberation theology. Quite the contrary. In both cases, he praised the followers of these ideologies.
Finally,  Pope Francis condemned Catholic "proselytism" as "solemn nonsense" because "our goal is not proselytism, but listening to  needs, desires and disappointments". This, even though Jesus placed the order in the Scriptures: "All power is given to me in heaven and  earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations and all people making disciples; baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And Lo, I am with you always, to the end of the world "(Mt 28: 18 to 20).

"There is No Catholic God"

In his amazing designs even Pope Francis said: "I believe in God. I do not believe in a Catholic God, there is no Catholic God, there is God."  Meanwhile, there is also the statement of the Pope, that there is no God himself, but the three divine persons, but not God. Many words, a lot of confusion.
Worth mentioning are Bergolio's remaining the eschatological comments, he expressed concern to Scalfari: "I remember to have mentioned in my letter to you, that our species will end, but the light of God will never end, which then penetrate in all souls and everything will be all in all. The transcendence remains, because this light that is all in all, transcends the universe and the present of the species in this phase."

No Denial

The interview was immediately reprinted and published the next day by L'Osservatore Romano  on the website of the Holy See. Only a few of the brave raised their voices and dared to pronounce that such things have never been said by a Pope, and is contradictory or even openly contradicts Catholic teaching.
Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi literally stuttered, as they were   horrified at the Vatican of the interview of which they knew nothing, apparently all were surprised, but of which one could not dissociate himself,  because Pope Francis himself did not dissociate. Father Lombardi tried to square the circle by trying to persuade that  beyond it, the Pope had not seen the text before its printing. Lombardi's statement could really convince no one.
Scalfari allowed himself the pleasure of   describing in detail the printing of the interviews to the foreign press. Accordingly, it may be true that Pope Francis, the interview being finished, he no longer looked at it, that it was not made available to him by Scalfari before printing and the Pope gave permission to print. This may lead to the conclusion that Pope Francis had so much confidence in Scalfari that he accepted everything, no matter whatever the journalist had written.
A denial has, as already mentioned, never taken place. Also, a conclusion must be drawn. It was not until November 15, and a half month later, the interview was deleted from the website of the Vatican. It was published again, and Vatican spokesman Lombardi had to make more contortion exercises. The interview was "credible" as a whole, but "not in the individual estimations". To add, finally, "the Secretary of State" had ordered its cancellation.

Stunned Silence of One - Rush to Publish for Others

Only at that moment, the Bergoglio fans ventured in the Catholic media, like Vatican Insider,  to practice restrained criticism of the interview  and noted that it was "really difficult to attribute the statements contained to  Pope Francis." Guilt was already assigned to Scalfari, if at this moment. But this assured  that the statements were credibly to have been made ​​by the Pope. The missing denial of the statements by the  Vatican proved him right.
Even now, the interview is published by the Vatican publishing company in book form. Unfortunately, the result will not be a serious and mature discussion of the dubious, controversial and unacceptable statements of the interview, but an even greater silence of the Church representatives, who should actually be obliged to talk. Through silence you seem to want to sit out the "problem". But Pope Francis and his closest confidants do not rest. They seem to want to make the "revolutionary" statements of the Pope publicized, otherwise the publications by Osservatore Romano,  vatican.va and now the Vatican publishing house do not explain.

Second Scalfari Interview

The "dialogue" between the Pope and the Anti-Pope continued despite this stumbling as if nothing had happened. This past July 13, Scalfari published in La Repubblica, a second Pope interview, again peppered with amazing statements. So Bergoglio said, "if [someone] chooses evil because he is sure that  something good will come of it from the heights of heaven, then these intentions and their consequences will be considered. We can not say, because we do not know. "
For long-running of the Church opponents outside the Church and  in progressive circles within the Church, the Pope said of celibacy, to the amazement of the Church historian: "Celibacy was established in the 10th century" and as the possibility of being able to marry  for priests: "It takes time, but the solutions are there and I will find it ".
But it is even more explosive: When Pope Francis came to speak on the topic of pedophilia and the Church, he described an exaggerated percentage of affected clergy, adding, that there was among the pedophile "priests and even bishops and cardinals". If that were so, he would have had as head of the Church, however, a  long time to intervene, rather than  clarifying  reports in interviews about it.

Stunningly Bizarre Non-Distancing

During the morning of July 13, although it was Sunday, he seems to have called some influential cardinals up on the phone and spoke energetic words. So once  more Vatican spokesman Lombardi had to disengage with a convoluted explanation trying a stunningly bizarre balancing act that could only fail. Pope Francis  had offered  in this case no word of distancing or correction (see Cardinals Also Among Pedophiles "Find Solution" to Abolish Celibacy? - New Bizarre Pope Interview with Scalfari in German).
Father Lombardi could not deny the content, because the Pope was unwilling to distance himself from his own words.The Vatican spokesman denied therefore, the absence of another possible form: One can  "not speak in any case of an interview," as that would be ultimately relevant. In particular, the statements about "pedophile" Cardinals and celibacy could not "certainly" be ascribed to the Pope. After all, said the Vatican spokesman, Scalfari  quotes incorrectly, which is why a "manipulation" of the reader can  not be excluded.
The choice of words had been remarkable. The Vatican spokesman made a serious accusation as a journalist, of "manipulation" that that took place  with Pope Francis coming and going as a friend of the house. Whoever complained and pushed Father Lombardi  to engage the Pope, had two concerns that compelled him.  Anyway, had there been in the two Scalfari interviews any quite weighty points, they would have required correction.
And now, in the Autumn of 2014  the new edition of the interviews, including all controversial statements by the Vatican publishing house follows.  The editor of the book, is the publishing director Don Giuseppe Costa himself. In addition to the two Scalfari interviews discussed here, there are even more not less controversial interviews included in the anthology.
What conclusions can be drawn from this? When does the internal Church dispute with the papal urge to talk?  The rector of the School of Journalism of Perugia, Antonio Socci has another question: "May a Pope sow this confusion among the faithful?"

Leftist Ex-Mayor of Venice: "I Expect More From the Pope Than From a Renzi or Merkel"

(Rome) The Catholic journalist Antonio Socci has been harshly attacked for his criticism of Pope Francis' silence about the tragedy of the Christians in the Middle East. However, similar criticism also comes from an "unsuspected" wing, as expressed by philosopher Massimo Cacciari who was mayor from 1993-2000 and 2005-2010 of Venice. Cacciari began his career as a radical left-winger. For the daily newspaper La Repubblica, which Pope Francis prefers like no other medium,  Cacciari said:
"This is a radical change in the political theology of the Church ... but that's a neat problem ... Francis considered an intervention, where he decides to to legitimate the UN   - but that is a secularization of the Catholic idea of" just war "... The position of Francis is extremely weak. His point of view is actually one that a Renzi or a Merkel might represent. Forgive me, but from the Pope, I expect something more, that is, he should tell me that it is necessary to intervene on the basis of the absolute values he holds."

"No more silence" - Haunting Words of Saint Catherine of Siena

Antonio Socci provides affirmation  to Cacciari's statement  in the words of St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380):

"Oh,  end  the silence! Call out  with a hundred thousand tongues. I see that the world is sick because of the silence, the bride of Christ is pale. "With these powerful words, the saint turned to  high church officials.
And what else did Antonio Socci write about in the newspaper  on 20 August  on the topic for Libero:
"Even today, one can feel the need in the Church, that women and men with burning faith and open hearts like St. Catherine, turn anxiously to the Pope (Gregory XI), who did not do what he was supposed to have done:  'In  your place I would fear that the divine judgment would come upon me.'
But in our time a strange clericalism and its flattery predominate and not the voices of the great saints or free men and women, or perhaps they are not heard.
It is very hard and very painful for a Catholic, given the tragedy of Christians and other minorities in Iraq, to understand the attitude of the Vatican by Pope Bergoglio and accept that they are hunted and killed by bloodthirsty Islamists of the Caliphate in these times.

A Week-long Illusion

In the first weeks there was a reluctance to talk about it. Even the prayer initiative of the Italian Bishops' Conference of 15 August, the pope, in open contrast to his predecessors, remained silent. Obviously, he cherishes a dislike of the Italian Church.
Then, finally, after 20 days of the massacre of men, women and children and a thousand times the pressure, especially by the bishops of that country and the Vatican diplomats, Pope Bergoglio decided to express those fateful words, even though he did it very quietly, 'It is legitimate to stop an unjust aggressor '.
What a performance ... That would have been missing, would  he have said that it is legitimate that the attacker kills innocent people, crucifies the  'enemies of Islam', buries children alive and rapes women and sold them as slaves.

The Attitude of John Paul II., And Benedict XVI.

In another tempo and energy, John Paul II called to defend the innocent. 'When I see that my neighbor is persecuted, I must defend him: This is an act of charity. That to me is humanitarian intervention.' He emphatically turned, however, in 2003 with his last strength against the non-UN-supported U.S. military intervention Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.  Similarly, Benedict XVI appealed against the. 2011,  UN-supported U.S. military intervention Opération Harmattan against Libya.
But neither John Paul II. nor Benedict XVI. are sitting on the chair of Peter. Pope Bergoglio hastened to shuffle off his words   immediately that one may legitimately 'stop the attacker, but without bombs and without going to war.'  Thus we imagine the bitter question of whether he really wants to save face or save the lives of innocents. How should a brutal gang of killers be stopped without weapons? What does  Pope Bergoglio suggest to the butcher to stop?  There will be those who will immediately say, a pope could not call for violence, even not when it comes to saving innocents. Wrong. For centuries, the Catholic doctrine teaches the right to self-defense against an unjust aggressor.
It was the theologians of the school of jurists of Salamanca, as well as the Dominican Francisco de Vitoria, precisely on that point, who established the modern basis of International Law on the basis of natural law in the early 16th century.
Pope Benedict XVI. in 2008, recalled to the United Nations: 'The principle of responsibility to protect was viewed from the ancient ius gentium  (international law) as the foundation of every action that is performed by the governing to the governed.' And pointed out that the Dominican Friar Francisco De Vitoria, is rightly regarded as a precursor of the idea of the United Nations.'
Thus John Paul turned II turned in 1995 in his encyclical Evangelium Vitae: On the other hand, "self-defense of the one for the lives of  others  responsible for the welfare of his family or the common good, is not only a right but a grave duty". 1 It unfortunately happens that the need to render the attacker harmless, sometimes brings his killing with it. In this case, the fatal outcome is put the attacker to load, which has exposed him by his act, even in the event that he was not morally responsible for lack of use of reason.' 2
What Pope Francis would have done if following in the footsteps of his predecessor, would have been a proportionate and targeted use of force to disarm the attacker and save the lives of the persecuted. But not for other interests.

Silence is a Child of Catho-progressive Ideology

Moreover, we find no single  mention by the Pope regarding the Islamist slaughter, not even once the word Islam, Islamists or Muslims. If someone had only the words of the Pope to go on,  he would not understand in the least, who is responsible for this humanitarian tragedy.
This serious reluctance is the result of Catho-progressive ideology, for dialogue with Muslims is wrongly understood and  pursued as surrender, even on a psychological level. This goes so far that there are Catho-progressive commentators who go so far as to repeat with zeal, that the butchers of the Caliph have nothing to do Islam and the  'true' Islam, since   actual Islam is something else entirely. Only: The Butcher of the Caliph forces his victims to convert to Islam if they don't want to be killed or driven away.
It is understandable and right that the church leadership does not seek conflict, controversy or even a religious war. But it is also a duty to tell the truth and to give believers a serious cultural judgment about  what is happening to Christians in the world. This is especially true given the cultural subservience of many Catholics, where some are even  seriously concerned, to keep so contemptibly, silent about 'the persecution of Christians.'  Christians are clearly the most persecuted group worldwide.

The Pope's Quiet Words   "at least" Refute the Loud Talkers

Despite all the words of the Pope on the flight back from Korea, it's a step forward, always with the hope that given the dramatic situation he will soon, as soon as possible, follow clearer and more decisive words.
The words should, meanwhile, already serve to order some of their thoughts to help. Even those who wanted to go immediately with sharp words, to  silence everyone in recent days who dared to call the papal silence by name. And those who were not embarrassed, to insinuate the same time, the demand to stop the attacker was the same as calling for a war or even a crusade.
The papal words, as quietly as they may be, at least refute those who  trumpeted the most loudly, that the silence of the Pope meant that he 'wanted to avoid even worse reactions'. Or quite shrewdly: 'If the Pope does not say anything, then it means that he is in secret '. This is much chatter, spoken by well-meaning and less well-meaning people.
In reality, we were under the illusion in the Vatican for weeks that there is a diplomatic way. However, the  Caliph just wants to conquer, massacre and forcibly convert. That's exactly what the situation as it was described by the Iraqi bishops who were perfectly familiar with the real situation for the Vatican, which did not want to hear. The bishops have indicated that the butchers do not even know what the word 'dialogue' or diplomacy mean.

An addendum

And an addendum: In his speeches during the Korean visit to Pope Francis called legitimately on the whole Church to reflect on the example of the martyrs of yesterday and today and for prayer. Quite right. The call is very weak, if he does not at the same time encourage the whole Church to rush to the aid of the victims. And it is weak without that profound cultural consciousness that Benedict XVI. knew how to give those who were willing to listen. Today, however, confusion rules.

Pope's Silence on Islamists --- "Someone in the Vatican Has a Reason to be Ashamed Before God"

Persecution of Christians in Iraq
(Rome)  This weekend the journalist Antonio Socci criticized Pope Franci's silence last week in a comment about the suffering Christians in the Middle East in the face of martyrdom. Two years of civil war in Syria have hardly mobilized the West, in spite of persecution, expulsion and murder of Christians. In Iraq, the same scenario. There is (perhaps) something which begins to stir. More since there is, in contrast to Syria and petroleum, much oil. The "Western" interests are aligned differently there.
There was no shortage of criticism of Socci's criticism.  Some Catholics thought they were disrespectful. The usual empty phrases with the word "hate" wasn't lacking. Socci, Director of the College of Journalism in Perugia has held back since the election of Pope Francis until what was for him  the last straw in connection with the suffering of Christians in Iraq.   Also Katholisches.info was criticized for publishing Soccis comment. "Finally," Pope Francis has now responded, sent a special envoy to Iraq and called together the nuncios of the Middle East.
"A little late" is not only what Socci thinks, who was not subdued because of the criticism, but vindicated. "Compared to the drama of the persecuted Christians, it  seems some secularists, even an anti-clerical government like that  of France, almost sensitive to react when the Catholic world and the Church line", Chiesa e Postconcilio . Pope Francis and his court have so far reacted to the victims with little sensitivity and are even a bit annoyed as they brush off the executioner with kid gloves. Here is Socci's comment in the daily Libero of 10 August.

Late, Tepid Response - The Walbert Bühlmann Today

The attitude is reminiscent of that unspeakable Swiss Capuchin and Marxist liberation theologian, Father Walbert Bühlmann (1916-2007), who made propaganda for Marxist ruled Third World dictatorships in Europe. The persecution of the Church and Christians by these regimes,  he ignored. If he was forced to take a position on this contradiction, he said cynically: The persecuted Christians were to blame, because the're surely "reactionary" Christians, because the "true" Christians were on the side of progress and revolution.  How Father Bühlmann  responded to  Marxists then, is today represented by other Church officials toward Islam?

Meanwhile, in Iraq alone,  there are more than 200,000 Christians on the run. Driven by Islamist militias, who have crucified, beheaded, stoned, executed and raped their enemies and enslave their women. The West seems to care more for the other minorities oppressed by the jihadists  such as the Yezidis. The anti-Christ reflex is set so deeply in the state offices of some countries and especially the editors of many media   that have not even Christian victims have  validity. Even now the reports from Iraq, even from bishops, about Islamist crimes against women and children  are hardly played at all. It remains to be seen whether these atrocities are confirmed. The Christians are hunted and killed as lawless "Nazarenes". The churches are burned or converted into Islamist bases. But the voice of the Vatican, the Pope, who is not otherwise taciturn, was previously only a barely intelligible whisper.

No "Shame! Shame!"- Outcry Like on Lampedusa

Not a trace of that plangent, when five or six times in all microphones he cried "Vergogna!"  "Shame,"  "shame" because of the immigrants on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa.  These who  actually don't belong on the Island, nor  in Italy, nor anywhere else in Europe would have given any  reason to be ashamed.  The immigrants were received with great expense with open arms.  They leave the water and they go out of their own free will. The Christians in Iraq want to live in their homes and are sold against their will. The small difference disappears rapidly. A certain media, cultural and political landscape in the EU was thrilled by the papal Lampedusa denunciation. It was grist to the mill. The same circles at best turn up their nose now at the murdered Christians in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.  For Christians, not a finger was stirred.

Pope Remains Silent and Lets Vatican Spokesman Lombardi Talk

Giuliano Ferrara, the editor of the daily newspaper Il Foglio wrote that the disaster for Christians in the Nineveh plain was not worth more than a simple explanation in  the Vatican ultimately was charged with culpable delay.  In addition this statement was only in the name of the Pope by the Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi, who plays no role in the official hierarchy. Form and content suggest that the highest ecclesiastical hierarchy in this thing only does the absolute bare minimum, which they can not escape, i.e.,  the minimum in order not to lose face, says Ferrara.
The Pope's statement speaks only of a "humanitarian drama". What is happening in Iraq is but far more. In addition, the statement says nothing about what should be done about it, as Ferrara remarked,  "Nothing is said in the rather cold explanation, about who 'are the persons responsible for these painful events. Not a single reference to the perpetrators and to the reasons why Christians have to flee from their homes and cities."

Where is the Clarity of the Regensburg Speech of Benedict XVI.?

The use of Pope John Paul II. on behalf of persecuted Christians seems to be over and forgotten. A fortiori, the clarity of the historic Regensburg speech by Pope Benedict XVI. with which he extended a hand to Islam shook hands to implore them to reconsider Islam self-critically.
The same pontificate is characterized by a disturbing reluctance to engage with the bloodthirsty criminals, with whom - say  the bishops in Iraq and Syria - such a dialogue is impossible, because the Islamists declare themselves that they have  "only the sword" for Christians.
A restraint that has become a habit in the behavior of Pope Bergoglio, who won't say a single word in defense of the Christian Mothers, who are sentenced to death in Muslim countries because of their faith, as was the case for Meriam in Sudan and is still the case for Asia Bibi in Pakistan. More than that, he refuses to publicly pray for them which is what he was specifically requested to do. And if he is compelled, he refrains from  saying something to the persecuted Christians, he remains vague and general, such as in an interview with Catalan daily La Vanguardia on 13 June: "The persecuted Christians are a concern to me as a shepherd in close contact.  I know many things about the persecution, which to speak of is not wise, so as not to offend anyone. "

Pope Wants not to "Offend" Islamist Executioner?

Insult whom? The bloodthirsty executioner of Jihad, who crucify Christians as "enemies of Islam", shoot, burn alive or behead? How is  that not disturbing? Tens of thousands of Christians, men, women, children, the elderly are at risk of life and limb and Bergoglio is concerned, "not to offend" the executioner?
What is all this consideration against the fanatical Islamists? Why  does he not even dares to call them by name? And why does he call on the international community to prepare an end to  the "humanitarian tragedy"  without saying even begin to like?
Pope Bergoglio had only modeled to follow John Paul II., The energetically raised his voice and called for clear, what to do. That the politicians did not follow him, is another story written and even rudimentarily saying how?
The bishops of Iraq are of the opinion that there seems to be no alternative to a targeted military strike now. This is what Bashar Matti Warda, the Archbishop of Arbil, has said who is in the forefront. Pope John Paul II. also supported this way, if  endangered innocent lives could be saved.

Blame Those Who Talk Nicely Islam in the West

It is also convenient to certain Catholics to raise generalized accusations of inaction against the West, while for years the same circles avoid any criticism of the Islamists, and especially avoid   calling the jihadists by name. The Dark Side of Islam is denied, covered up, played down in an interplay of certain media, certain politicians, certain cultural workers and certain parts of the Christian communities, not only the Catholic Church but also of Protestant state churches. They will never tire of playing with apodictic tone, always same record that everything, that is negative, is "not the true Islam."   How precisely should they so accurately know the "true Islam" is somehow never explained.  Thus the confluence of influential circles and an aversion to Christianity with a courting of Islam is a dangerous mixture. The Christians in the Middle East get to feel the consequences. Today, the Christians in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Egypt. And tomorrow?
But Pope Bergoglio did not even call for a humanitarian relief operation or a solidarity initiative at the international level, at least appealed to the greater Catholic world. The late mobilization of diplomacy, which should have been active at first in the background, is yet another chapter little pleasing.
On the Sunday before, the Pope said no word to the persecuted Christians at the Angelus.  A few days later he made the present declaration through his spokesman. Strictly speaking, the Pope is silent. Why are certain topics and keywords  so difficult for his lips? No word yet on the days of prayer for the persecuted Christians, initiated by Episcopal Conferences, dioceses and religious communities. Does the Pope also believe that to pray for the persecuted Christians is "offensive" to Muslims?

Hymns to "Jihad" from the Vatican Gardens

The Days of Prayer are a serious matter. They will also never recall the Imam,  at the prayer of the peace with Shimon Peres and Abu Mazen those Quranic verses recited at the invitation of Pope Francis on June 8th, with which he implored Allah for "victory over those who disbelieve."   In fact, a hymn was sung on  "Holy War" from the gardens of the Vatican. In fact, an unprecedented "accident" for which there are managers. One especially.

Reversion of the Church to an Ideological Subaltnern in the 70s?

As a Catholic Church leader, the Pope would have the ability to call the Christian to pray and also to aid efforts and to show solidarity with the persecuted brothers and sisters.
As it seems so far there is  nothing of the like in the air from the Vatican. Rather, it seems that the Vatican is reverting  to the dark desolation of the 70s, in which it was an ideological Subaltern position for Christians which would only be broken with the papacy of John Paul II., and overcome.
